Painting the figure is an exploration of uncharted regions. It is often a journey. There is a sense of humour in the human form. It is often wild and untamed, forever moving and almost dancing. It is looking to follow the wind - an unseen wind - and it is representative of our spirit. Quite often, when discussing the human figure with my clients, we invariably circle back to things that bring us happiness. Those who cherish and hang the human figure in their homes often look to make a statement about their boldness. Their courage. They fearlessly allow for others to join them in contemplating human nature. Or at least to wink at it. And it is quite often a statement of the present mind, rooted in canvas.
