Claudette happened to be in Florence on International Women’s Day. She decided to take a day trip see the Leaning Tower of Pisa, which to her, stood for grit, perseverance and determination… the same things that created a better world for women.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa began to lean once construction on the second floor had begun and the structure began to sink into the soft ground. (Given that the name “Pisa” comes from the Greek word for “marshy land” you would think that the cathedral’s architects would have taken the subsoil into account while building a very tall bell tower.) It took 344 years to build during which numerous remedies were attempted but the lean remained.

International Women's Day is a day dedicated to honoring the achievements of women throughout history and all across the globe and is typically a day for women from all backgrounds and cultures to band together to fight for gender parity and women's rights.
