Claudette is always up for learning something new, but whatever it is, it needs to capture her imagination; it must create some joy or provide some sort of insight into the world we live or die in. When Claudette decided to take piano lessons again, she searched for a beautiful man to teach her how to play Schubert’s works. Schubert, known to many as an “incorrigible bohemian,” was a prolific composer.

Claudette wanted to serve her passion for music and for the challenge of playing some of her favourites like Schubert’s last sonatas. Playing Schubert’s music made her feel powerful and connected to something bigger, something otherworldly. Schubert wrote over 1000 pieces of music, even though he only lived to the age of 31. In 1815 alone, Schubert wrote more than 20,000 bars of music, including nine church works, a symphony, and some 150 songs – including eight in one day in October 1815 when he was only 18.

Schubert died in Vienna in November 1828 at the age of 31 in the apartment of his brother Ferdinand. The cause of his death was officially diagnosed as typhoid fever; however, others have proposed it was the tertiary stage of syphilis, which seemed very likely. But Claudette says “I don't care a bit what he died of, I just love that music damn it, and I want a handsome man to teach me how to play it!”
